Manninger might see more action than most goalkeepers this summer, if fears over Austria's lack of overall quality come to fruition.
The former Arsenal shot-stopper missed the recent 4-3 friendly defeat to Holland, which hardly boosted Helge Payer's claims, but if the team don't improve at the back there will be plenty of work to do between the sticks.
Manninger, who is now enjoying a second spell with Serie A mid-table side Siena, did feature in the crushing 3-0 loss earlier this year against Germany, who they will meet again in the tournament group stages.
Another ugly defeat could be on the cards although the 30-year-old has proved in the past he's well capable of thwarting plenty of top class opposition.
Since his departure from the Gunners, who he famously helped win the Premier League and FA Cup Double in 1998 by keeping six straight clean sheets, Manninger has gone on to play for Fiorentina, Espnayol, Torino, Bologna, Salzburg and of course Siena.
